The First Annual Chamberlain/Bush Infamy Award For Dumbest Political Quote of The Year, 2009
This is the initial CHAMBERLAIN/BUSH Infamy Award For The Dumbest Political Quote of the Year, 2009.
The Award is named for Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain of Great Britain and President George W.Bush of the United States.
Chamberlain won his name on this award by famously stating,he had won from Hitler at Munich, “PEACE FOR OUR TIME.” Within a year, Hitler had invaded Poland and World War II had started.
President Bush EARNED his name on this award by two idiotic statements,
1-”You are doing a great job Brownie,” as American bodies were being washed down the Mississippi.
2=”Hostilities in Iraq have ceased”, just as Proconsul Paul Bremer was disbanding the Iraqi Army, without pay, but with their guns intact.
Infamous honorees indeed, worthy of their names on this award.
We have two winners this year, a tie, both are in political power, both President Obama appointees.
Before I get the emails from Sarah Palin bashers who will ask me why she is not the honoree, she is disqualified. To qualify to win this award you have to have political power. Her most infamous remarks came after her resignation as Governor or in 2008. Currently she has as much poltical power as SNOOKI from the Reality TV show, JERSEY SHORE.
Winner Number one is Valerie Jarrett, “Jarrett graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon, a New England boarding school, in 1974. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Stanford University in 1978, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Michigan Law School in 1981.”
Jarrett is a Senior Advisor to President Obama, and a close personal friend to him, the most POWERFUL person in the world
While being interviewed by newscaster Campbell Brown, about the bitter row between Fox News and President Obama, this 50 year old powerful alpha female spoke these infamous words.
“We’re going to speak truth to power”.
Those words, in that setting, are worthy of a script by Jules Feiffer or Evelyn Waugh. Her words were dumb, foolish, absurd. To speak truth to power, she now needs to speak truthfully to the President, and herself, not Fox News.
But more than that, her remarks speak to an ongoing characteristic of the Obama Administration, their studied pursuit of callowness. They will not let their opinions be aged, nor matured by real life. Over and over again, what we see in the heart of the Obama Administration, pulling the strings, is the mentality and obliviousness of LISA SIMPSON.
The true philosopher guiding the Obama Administration is LISA SIMPSON.
Which brings us to winner number 1A,, Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano.
An attorney, Ms. Napolitano made this wonderfully Pollyannaish comment about the aborted terrorist attack on the airplane in Detroit on Christmas Day.
Napolitano said: “One thing I’d like to point out is that the system worked.”
A lone young man, a Muslim, whose father had notified the American embassy that he had been radicalized,was allowed to get an American visa. Not only that, this young, single Muslim , on the watch list, was allowed to board the plane, without luggage, and with a one way ticket, paid for in cash.
This is not really incompetence; it is what I call TERM PAPER SYNDROME. The belief that if it looks good on paper, it will automatically be good in real life. This syndrome is rife among attorneys in government positions, and therefore rife in the Obama Administration.
None having served in the military, with the common man, they have no idea of the history, scope and day to day power of the SNAFU( Situation Normal: All Fucked Up).
Nothing important works unless your best people are on it, consistently. Attorneys with power portfolios which require imagination, such as Intelligence, do not seem to understand, regardless of the intellectual template imposed by your thought process, it is a people’s world and that means mistakes.
Our two winners not only made statements dumb in their own right, but also reflective of a cosmic, catholic dumbness in the Obama Administration, “I passed the bar, so it is my world now, no one else has input nor control.”

It was not by chance that doing World War II, the British drafted all their writers and placed them into both the Intelligence and Counter Intelligence Agencies. Both Intelligence and counter intelligence demand imagination, which attorneys lack, and attornys in the Obama Administration, sorely lack.
